The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has shifted the Medical and Dental College Admission Test to September 20, moving the exam from its earlier date of August 16. The change was announced on Thursday, with PMDC saying the revised schedule was issued on the directions of the prime minister of Pakistan.
The council said the decision was taken to support a smooth, secure and transparent conduct of the examination while also accommodating candidates. It added that all other terms, conditions and examination arrangements will remain unchanged unless a fresh notice is issued.
MDCAT is a key requirement for admission to medical and dental colleges across Pakistan. The test is taken by a large number of students each year and is often closely watched by aspirants and institutions because it determines access to both public and private sector seats.
In its statement, PMDC advised candidates, parents, educational institutions and other stakeholders to keep checking its official website and communication channels for further instructions and updates. Last month, a subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee on Health discussed complaints linked to the MDCAT. During that meeting, PMDC officials told lawmakers that about 135,000 candidates were expected to sit the test, while Senator Anusha Rahman said the committee had received around 1,000 complaints from students.
The latest PMDC MDCAT date gives candidates additional time to prepare, but the council has stressed that no other announced arrangements have been altered. Students are being asked to rely only on official updates to avoid confusion.
