The Guardian report says the club is planning to reinstate the tickets before the season begins, indicating the suspension may be temporary. Even so, the dispute has highlighted the tension between anti-touting measures and the trust of long-standing supporters, particularly when account activity is flagged by automated or internal monitoring.

Manchester United has been under pressure in recent years, like many major clubs, to prevent the secondary market from exploiting demand for tickets. But the backlash from recognized fan groups shows how quickly such enforcement can become a flashpoint if supporters feel they are not being treated fairly.

The complaint from Must, The 1958 and the other groups also underscores the influence these organizations retain in raising concerns on behalf of matchgoing fans.
