Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has called for coordinated planning, transparent implementation and effective public communication to ensure the successful delivery of the prime minister's targeted fuel relief initiative. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to extending assistance to deserving citizens.
Joint committees review preparations
Dar chaired a high-level joint session of the National Steering Committee on the Fuel Subsidy Scheme and the Committee on Media Management for the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme on Friday.
The meeting brought together federal representatives and senior officials from the provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to review implementation arrangements and discuss measures aimed at improving the scheme's operational effectiveness.
Participants examined the programme's current state of preparedness, beneficiary-targeting arrangements and implementation strategy. Particular attention was given to ensuring that administrative planning, resource allocation and public information efforts work together to facilitate the delivery of relief to eligible segments of society.
Coordination across governments
Emphasising the importance of translating government policy into practical assistance for citizens, the deputy prime minister directed the relevant ministries and departments to maintain close coordination and address operational requirements in a timely manner.
He said effective cooperation between federal and provincial institutions would be essential to ensuring a smooth process and making the best use of available resources.
Dar appreciated the participation and cooperation of the provincial governments, AJK and GB. He underlined the importance of a collective administrative approach in carrying out the initiative.
Their engagement, alongside coordination among the relevant federal ministries, is expected to support the practical arrangements required for the scheme's implementation.
Public information campaign reviewed
Dar also highlighted the need for a coordinated public awareness campaign so citizens receive clear and accessible information about the relief initiative.
The media communication strategy was reviewed as part of the broader implementation process, reflecting the importance of keeping the public informed and ensuring that outreach efforts support the programme's objectives.
Federal ministers overseeing climate change, petroleum, and information technology and telecommunications attended the meeting. The Minister of State for Finance, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, and senior officials from the concerned ministries and regional administrations also participated.
The review reflects the government's continued focus on strengthening the planning and delivery mechanisms of its targeted fuel relief programme. Relevant authorities have been tasked with advancing coordination, improving public outreach and ensuring that implementation remains aligned with the objective of providing assistance to deserving citizens.
