TikToker held in Sahiwal for sharing video in police uniform

A female TikToker has been arrested in Sahiwal after police said she recorded and shared a video while wearing a fake police uniform, according to a report monitored from a public feed.

Pakpattan city police registered a case against Shumaila Aslam, a resident of Mohallah Karampura, under sections 170 and 171 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Jaffar Hussain, the report said.

According to the police account, SI Jaffar Hussain was on patrol when he received information about a video circulating on social media that showed a woman dressed in what appeared to be police uniform. After checking the report, police traced the mobile number used to upload the clip and the address linked to the TikToker in Karampura.

The investigation also confirmed that the suspect is not employed in the Punjab Police and had used a fake uniform during the recording, the report said.

District Police Officer Javed Iqbal confirmed to Dawn by phone that the suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after the case was registered. He also warned people against making videos in official uniforms, calling it a criminal act.

The case comes as police across the country increasingly monitor social media content that may involve impersonation of officials or misuse of state symbols. In this instance, authorities acted after the video drew attention online and was verified by local police, according to the feed.
