Iran targets American military assets in Gulf, warns of more attacks as US strikes Iran for 10th consecutive day

Iran said on Tuesday it had struck American military assets in Kuwait and Bahrain, escalating a confrontation in the Gulf as the United States carried out another round of strikes on Iranian targets for a 10th straight day, according to a monitored public feed from Dawn Home.

In a statement carried by Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the Iranian army said it had hit US radar, air defence and administrative facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. The Revolutionary Guards said the attacks were only the beginning of “more decisive and powerful” waves of drone and missile strikes to come.

The Guards also said they had targeted infrastructure linked to Amazon in Bahrain. Their warning came hours after Washington said it had completed fresh strikes aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military said its forces hit Iranian military command centres, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defence systems.

“Commercial vessel transits through the vital international maritime corridor continue,” the US said, adding that American forces remained ready to hold Iran accountable for attacks on civilian mariners in the strait.

The latest exchange followed the deaths of at least three US soldiers in recent days, prompting President Donald Trump to say Iran would pay “many times over” for each American killed. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the conflict as a “full-scale war”.

Iran also said it had stopped two “non-compliant oil tankers” trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, in what appeared to be an effort to tighten control over the key shipping lane. The Revolutionary Guards said the vessels were hit by explosions that caused fires and left them immobilised. Separately, the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency reported that an “unknown projectile” struck a tanker off Oman, and later reported another vessel in the same area had been hit by a projectile.

Despite the fighting, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said diplomatic contacts with Washington were continuing through intermediaries.

The escalation has widened beyond Iran and the United States. Yemen’s Houthi rebels announced an immediate maritime embargo on Saudi Arabia, saying it was retaliation under an “eye-for-an-eye” approach. Saudi Arabia condemned the move and reaffirmed support for Yemen’s Aden-based government.

The conflict has also touched regional diplomacy. Iran’s interior minister, Eskandar Momeni, is in Islamabad for a two-day visit, where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to Pakistan’s interior ministry.
