Facebook and Instagram users in Pakistan and other markets reported brief access problems on Sunday, according to data from outage tracker Downdetector and checks by Reuters.
Downdetector said Pakistani users began flagging issues with Facebook at around 12:30pm. Reports climbed to a peak of 196 at 1:40pm before easing and appearing to be resolved by about 2:40pm. Instagram also saw a sharp rise in complaints around the same time, with reports reaching 204 at around 1:29pm.
The monitoring site, which compiles status reports from multiple sources, showed similar disruption elsewhere. In the United States, Facebook users had filed 4,808 reports by 12:45pm, while Instagram users submitted 2,829 reports by 1:18pm, according to the feed data.
Reuters also found that access to both services was intermittent in Singapore, suggesting the disruption was not limited to one country. The outages appeared brief, with reports falling after the midday peak.
The episode comes after previous service problems on Meta’s platforms. Last month, Facebook and Instagram were reported down for thousands of users, and in March 2024 Meta suffered a major outage that affected Facebook, Instagram and Threads for several hours, leaving users unable to access their accounts.
