Anthropic will bring its Fable 5 AI model back into two of its paid subscription tiers from July 20, after a period of staged access that left some users relying on usage credits instead of regular plan limits, according to a monitored public feed citing Dawn Tech.
In a post on Saturday, Claude said Fable 5 will be included in the Max and Team Premium plans at 50% of usage limits. The company said the change is meant to make access more predictable for users, after a rollout that Anthropic described as difficult to forecast because demand was hard to anticipate.
Fable 5 had previously been made available across several paid plans, including Pro, Max, Team and selected Enterprise offerings, between July 1 and 7, but only up to half of weekly usage limits. After that window, access shifted to usage credits.
Under the latest arrangement, Pro and Team Standard subscribers will still use Fable through usage credits rather than weekly plan limits. Anthropic said those users will also receive a one-time $100 credit.
Usage credits let subscribers on paid Claude plans continue using the service after they have exhausted the included amount in their plan. The company said it has been adding capacity as demand evolved, and acknowledged that the changing access pattern had been frustrating for users.
“We know this has been frustrating, and we want to give you more certainty about what your plan includes,” Claude said in the post. It added that access is being standardized at 50% usage for the plans that rely on Fable most heavily.
Anthropic said it is still investing in additional capacity and will keep users informed as it expands availability. The post ended with a thank-you to subscribers for their patience over the past several weeks.
Fable 5, described by Anthropic as a public version of its Mythos AI model, was introduced in early June as the company’s most powerful model for broad use. Anthropic said at the time that it performs strongly across software engineering, knowledge work, vision, scientific research and other areas, with longer and more complex tasks showing a larger gap between Fable 5 and the company’s other models.
The model and Mythos 5 were redeployed on July 1, after being disabled for all users within three weeks of an earlier restriction ordered by the United States government, which cited national security concerns related to access by foreign nationals.
Anthropic’s subscription lineup includes Free, Pro, Max 5x, Max 20x, Team Standard, Team Premium, Self-serve Enterprise and Sales-assisted Enterprise plans.
